Some Advent Information

Living in an age where Christmas comes in the media and the malls soon after Labor Day, the notion of slowing down at this time of year seems alien to us and all too often the season of Advent is overlooked, even forgotten. Advent is the start of the Church's new year, the First Sunday of Advent falls on Dec 3, 2006.

The Advent Wreath symbolizes the the many years that the people of Israel waited in darkness for the coming of the Savior, and illustrates our wait during the Advent Season, to once again celebrate Jesus' birth into the World.

Dec. 6th is the Feast of Saint Nicholas .... this is where we get the name Santa (Saint) Claus (Nicholas) from.

Christmas Eve is a wonderful time to begin the habit of blessing your children. Place both hands on your child's head saying .... "May the Lord watch over your sleeping and waking".

Get Ready ... for Christmas is coming soon!
